Meet Kelly George, Ph.D.

I received my Ph.D. in communication from Temple University and my Master’s Degree in health communication from Emerson College.

In 2016, I joined the faculty at Immaculata University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Arts, Languages, and Letters and later served as the Director of Sponsored Research. Prior to that, I worked at the Institute on Disabilities at Temple as Director of Academic Programs and taught in Rutgers University’s Doctorate in Social Work Program.

I’ve published research in the areas of self-help, disability rights, patient-doctor communication, and work/life balance.

I’m a mom to two kids and one very lucky dog, and a very lucky wife to the best husband ever.

Daily life is filled with things like reading, going for walks, binge-watching shows I’ve already seen twice, journaling, meditation, and laughing with/at my kids. On the weekends I like to lay around in my pajamas for as long as possible and then play boardgames with friends in the evening. The most joyous activity I do on a semi-regular basis is sing karaoke with a group of friends I’ve known since high school. I am most proud of my work as a parent to my truly terrific kids. I started taking piano lessons at age 45, after a lifetime as a theater geek with no musical talent.

Before starting my training as a Certified MentorCoach, I took three years away from paid work and made recovery from chronic fatigue syndrome(ME/CFS)/long covid my top priority.

I’d love to meet you, too. Reach out and share your story here.
