Meet Kelly George, Ph.D.
From Academia to Coaching
For over a decade, I worked at universities in the Greater Philadelphia Area teaching, researching, and leading at places like Rutgers University School of Social Work, The Institute on Disabilities at Temple University, and Immaculata University’s Department of Arts, Languages, and Letters.
I earned my Ph.D. in Communication from Temple University (2014) and my M.A. in Health Communication from Emerson College/Tufts School of Medicine (2008).
As a scholar, I’ve published research in the areas of self-help, disability identity, patient-doctor communication, and work/life balance.
As a career and wellness coach, I’ve trained with MentorCoach, which is accredited for coaching education by the International Coaching Federation and is dedicated to the integration of evidence-based coaching and the science of Positive Psychology. I anticipate earning the credential of Associate Certified Coach (ACC) in 2026.
Daily life is filled with things like reading, going for walks, binge-watching shows I’ve already seen twice, journaling, meditation, and laughing with/at my kids.
The most joyous activity I do on a semi-regular basis is sing karaoke with a group of friends I’ve known since high school.
Prior to becoming a coach, I took three years away from paid work and made recovery from chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) & long Covid my top priority.
I’d love to meet you, too. Reach out and share your story here.
